Bentley Rear Axle - Failure of Roller Bearing Integral with Rear Axle Bevel Pinion.

Referring to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}4/N.27.10.37, as pointed out to you during your last visit, we are experimenting with double quenching the roller race support, and we expect to have some samples through the Hardening Shop during this week.

If this is not successful, then we hope to try localised heating of this part prior to the ordinary quenching, which in effect will give a double quench.

As a third experiment, we are considering using a wider roller, or alternatively two smaller rollers, and we hope as a result of these investigations to overcome this trouble.
