X.3778. TEMPERATURE EFFECT ON EFFICIENCY OF BATTERIES.

X.646.
The Fuller Battery was used for this experiment. The temperature of this battery when standing in a fully charged condition was 15°C. The battery was placed on a radiator and the temp. of the electrolyte was raised to 25°C. the battery was then again put on charg and although the battery was fully charged before warming up, it did not immediately gas again when the charging current was switched on. The operation of charging increased the temp. to 30°C, although the current used was only 5 Amps.. The battery was then discharged the result of which is shown on the accompanying curve taken from the recording voltmeter. The result does not appear to be quite as good as the one previously obtained from this battery under normal conditions.
