We have analysed the figures relating to the tractive resistance of the above car as produced by measured retardation. The approximation - Tr{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} = (46 + .0413V^2) lbs. is not too bad up to 75 M.P.H. but goes very wrong if extended to 95 M.P.H. From the appendix it will be seen that assuming 34 lbs ins^2 as tyre pressure and Andreau's figures for the resistance, one gets figures for the windage drag up to 75 M.P.H. which give an almost constant K.{Mr Kilner} of .00163. This agrees very closely with our old tests on the I.B.4. saloon, which if Andreau's tyre drag be applied give a K.{Mr Kilner} of .00175. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
