No. 2. V.O.Co., Ltd., to Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. expect to learn that the rate of oil consumption would not be greatly increased, except under conditions of continuous high speed driving, where oil temperatures might be higher on account of the greater power output. The advantages to be derived from using a special grade of oil in Winter may be summarised as follows: (a) Reduced effort required from the starter motor and its associated electrical installation, with consequent improved battery condition. (b) More rapid circulation of oil immediately after starting up, thus ensuring lubrication in circumstances where a more viscous oil would possibly not circulate efficiently. We believe that these two advantages are of sufficient importance to outweigh the very slight increase in rate of oil consumption which might be anticipated while the Winter oil is in use. Yours faithfully, VACUUM OIL COMPANY LIMITED. Chief Engineer. AD/AR. | ||
