30th January, 1936.

Messrs. Lake & Elliot,
Braintree,
Essex.

For the attention of Mr. Whitfield.

Dear Sirs,

Unfortunately we are unable to trace the photomicrographs Nos. Al,135 and Al,139. In all probability they were taken from samples supplied by your Company, but if you would kindly return the photographs we might be able to give you more accurate information.

As regards the other photomicrograph, which we promised to send you, we regret that we are unlikely to be able to despatch it under a week, but will do our best to accelerate its reproduction.

The present opinion of the Experimental Dept. in regard to "Millenite" is that we do not consider it to be sufficiently different from or superior to other high chromium cast-irons of good quality to warrant the payment of the price you charge us. If in the future you are able to supply us with "Millenite" having the microstructure we think desirable, it may be worth our while to continue purchasing it, but we can give you no definite promise.

I am,

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
