tomorrow whether you agree this suggested Programme, so that we can make our arrangements in advance before Xmas holidays, and we would, of course, leave it to you to fix up the necessary arrangements with EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} to carry out his part.

By the way, we do not appear to have yet received any Reports regarding the 10,000 miles test which started on Monday; possibly there has not yet been time for these to come through, but I presume we shall receive a copy of the daily Reports.

In regard to the second car, No. 19.EX. we note from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG18.12.28. that some modifications are being embodied and that it is proposed to take this car out to La{L. A. Archer} Candel to arrive there about January 5th, and to leave it with R.{Sir Henry Royce} The position appears to be that there are certain known criticisms on the first car, No. 18.EX. and that modifications are going to be embodied in 19.EX. with a view to overcoming them. It appears to us, therefore, that it is of the utmost importance that FM., CWB. and EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} should be given the earliest opportunity of thoroughly testing 19.EX. with a view to seeing whether the modifications in question have satisfactorily overcome criticisms of 18.EX.

For this purpose, therefore, we suggest it should be made available for them to try immediately after R.{Sir Henry Royce} has seen and tried it. This would fit in apparently from the point of view of dates, as from the Programme outlined above, the last part of the 10,000 miles of 18.EX. should be completed just about the date that 19.EX. is being shewn to R.{Sir Henry Royce}

You will I am sure appreciate the importance of this suggestion because on or about the 10th January, is to be held a the Board Meeting when the definite decision has got to be taken, which must be based upon results obtained, and presumably you do not wish these results only to be based on the test of 18.EX.
