In connection with the former, attempts to lock the differential on the driving axles have not been satisfactory owing to the high torque involved. This therefore suggests that the differential might be transferred to the gearbox, where it could be easily locked and unlocked when driving. This would require the use of a double transmission shaft driving two back axles as on the sketch attached, and might be considered for future development.
