Messrs.Rolls-Royce,Ltd., Date 5.12.28. Page 4 in capacity between the tube and the bell. We mention this as we believe it is the reason for the pumping becoming less fast after approximately 25 miles, rather than the level in the tank dropping below the second cup. For your information we are enclosing copies of pumping tests and experiments carried out on N.sch.2576/2578 (K.S.175), which the writer hopes to come and discuss with you at an early date, as soon as we have had an opportunity of finishing off the work on the 40/50 h.p. installation F.79192 (K.S.162), the tank of which he hopes to return to you at the same time. We have now got the unit for this installation giving the correct datum, and we note that the fixing flange is at a considerable angle, approximately 15°, as compared with 5° as shown on the drawing. We recently had an order from your production side for a gauge to this drawing, showing an angle of 5°. We therefore took it into our own hands to supply a unit exactly similar to that on which we are working on your own tank, the angle of which we found to be 15°. This is a point which can perhaps be cleared up on the writer's next visit. Yours faithfully, H.M.HOBSON,Ltd., [Signature] Joint Managing Director. | ||
