LTD., 490, IPSWICH ROAD, TRADING ESTATE, SLOUGH, BUCKS. 15th. March 1939. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, I was informed last time I visited Derby that it was alleged I had told Lagondas of the existence of the streamline Bentley, and that it was called the Lagonda Chaser, and that they told Jack Barclays about it, who rang up Conduit Street some time before this information was released to the public. I took this matter up with W.O. himself, who assures me that the first thing they knew of the existence of such a car was when they saw a picture in the motor press. I have verified this statement from other sources in the Lagonda Company as well. Further, W.O. went to the trouble to fix up a lunch with Jack Barclay to find out how Jack Barclay got the information, and Jack Barclay said that they did not get this information from Lagondas, but from other sources through some driver, whether their own or from Conduit Street was not divulged. W.O. was very annoyed that such an allegation had been made. I think you will agree that people should be quite sure of their facts before they make statements of this nature. Yours sincerely, S. S.
