Anderton Brown Patent Radiator Tubes.

Dear Mr. Ellor,

With reference to your letter of the 29th Sept. 1930, ref: Lr{Mr Ellor}3/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} you do not state the thickness of radiator nor the length and size of the tubes which are at present employed.

I am confident that among the many improve-ments contained in my patents Nos.166930 covering differential spacing and 219788, dealing with intermediate bulging and the like, are features which may prove of great value towards the solution of your problems.

You will realise, however, that my attention has been devoted to aircraft problems where cooling per unit of equivalent drag is of first importance and where a high airspeed is always available.

If you like I will obtain copies of the above patent specifications for your use, but no doubt your efficient organisation will be able to procure them earlier.

Mr. Lovesay has already been referred to R.M. 934 and 952 for general data, and in para: 11. p.9. of the latter, some figures are given, including some 6% extra heat dissipation with my tubes of a particular size and length, viz: 10 m.m. hex. over flats by 32 calibres, as compared with the circular tube of equal dimensions uniformly spaced and plain in the body. A reduction in weight of 3% and of 2.3% in drag is also noted.

Contd.....
