Re: 20/25 HP.Chassis - Exhaust System. --------------------------------------- The system on the 10,000 miles car is, we understand, a compound of the old 20 HP. and that got out for Japan (N.Sch.2985). We also understand from Mr Hancock's reports that trouble is being experienced through the pipe coming out of the silencer. The same trouble was experienced on the original 10,000 mile Phantom II. The layout of the 10,000 - 20/25 HP. appears to be almost identical with that of the original Phantom II, except that the latter had a horizontal stay to the frame giving stiffness along the length of the pipe, but flexible in all other directions (N.Sch.2704). The pipe came out in spite of this. The device which cured the trouble, according to our information is a sling, shewn for Phantom II on N.Sch.2842 (and fitted to all chassis), and for Japan on N.Sch.2985. Mr Royce saw and approved of both these schemes. As that on N.Sch.2985 is applicable almost without alteration to the existing 20/25 HP. we suggest that it should not be entirely ignored.
