To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/MJ.21.6.32. OUTSIDE MEN'S EXPENSES. With reference to the attached. In the case of Harker we instructed him to go from Farnborough to Netheravon to examine the engine in which the split pin had come out of the oil pump drive. We wished him to look at the actual parts because it usually takes so long for these things to get back to us. He has evidently been charged for the days he was away from Farnborough. We have knocked 2/6d. off his expenses and will take it up with him. As regards Green and Fisher. They point out that it was arranged with Mr. Kaye Don that they should stay at the Red Lion. It is the nearest place to Thornycroft's Boat Yard, and they have been working odd hours and having meals at odd times. We consider under the conditions they have been working on Miss England lll it would be difficult for them to get any alternative accomodation. With regard to Farmer. It was arranged that he should fly to Andover. He actually started by air but they had to turn back because of fog. Owing to this he went down by road and arrived at Andover late, so that he had no opportunity of finding alternative accomodation. We have taken this matter up with the people concerned and told them that in future they must keep within the allowance. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
