TO D.A. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to MON. CFC. W.I. x 4085 COPY E2/G24/3/21. x 4085 RE SPARE WHEEL CARRIER - "GOSHAWK II". We send you herewith drawing No. lec.1369 shewing the arrangement that should be made for carrying the spare wheel at the rear. The rear cross member of the chassis has two sheet-metal pads fixed to it carried on short cantilevers. The spare wheel sits in these pads, and is held sideways by a hub plate, anchored from the second cross member from the rear by means of an arm with ball and socket friction joints. this arm, owing to its aforementioned joints, can be moved about through a limited angle to adjust itself to the wheel.
