RE DAGONITE (TYPE 6HZD9-S) BATTERIES.

We have examined the two faulty batteries removed from chassis Nos. B.28.KT and B.164.KT. We find that the battery off B.28.KT has one cell No.4, internally short circuited, also the bottom of the case at each end has been damaged by the bolts.

The battery of B.164.KT has a broken or bad joint between the intercell connecting link and the negative plate lug on cell No.6. Also the casing has been damaged at the bottom of each end by the bolts. In this case, the score marks are deep enough to cause leakage. This may be due to careless fitting as mentioned by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Hancock, or to the bolt holes in the battery box having wrong centres.

With regard to the electrical faults we are arranging that the faults be demonstrated to the Dagenite representative at these works.
