COPY. Messrs. Thomas Whittle & Sons, Ltd., Rose & Crown Street, Warrington. 2.1.20. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Rd., Derby. Dear Sirs, RE. DYNAMO BELTS. REF. Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} /Ms12/FJ31.12.19. We are in receipt of your letter of 31st. ult., and note that oiling the belts does not cure the noise. We are arranging to send a representative as soon as possible to your works. In the meantime we are anxious to make every test and are sending you a belt so that the grain of the leather comes in contact with the flange of the pulley. The grain of the leather will present a softer surface to the flanges and should consequently run quietly. We might mention that we are hoping to be able to make all belting in this way in the near future. Yours faithfully, THOS. WHITTLE & SONS, LTD., OSW. | ||
