X.4520. LUCAS TWO-WAY SWITCH FOR CENTRAL LAMP SCHEME.

In answer to your enquiries regarding the above we have put the switch on experimental chassis 20-EX and up to the present it has run 2,552 miles satisfactorily. As I think we previously informed you, E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has informed us of R's disfavour regarding the use of the Lucas switch see copy of E4/M23.5.30 attached, and of their intention to give us an R.R. design for this unit.

In any case we cannot standardise the Lucas two-way switch until considerable further running has been done.

EFC.
