X.7660. WORKING TEMPERATURE OF PHANTOM DYNAMO.

Arising out of the development which is taking place on 40/50 dynamo as a result of the necessity of evolving the largest effective output curve, we are anxious to arrive at up-to-date information of the temperatures attained by machines under ordinary running conditions.

For this purpose we have in readiness a number of temperature indicating sentinels which consist of small globules of low melting point metal attached to copper wires. These can readily be fitted in contact with the dynamo carcase by clamping the copper wire under the strap securing the machine in its cradle.

It would help us to attain the required information if you would agree to our placing a number of these sentinels on machines passing through the ordinary routine road tests. Their presence on the dynamo would in no way interfere with any other work that has to be done, whilst the actual amount of work involved in fitting them is extremely small and could easily be arranged between ourselves and your Mr.Daykin. Will you please let us know.
