X8390 W/S. C. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY12/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 17.1.27. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RECEIVED 18 JAN 1927 COMBINED WING STAYS & HEAD LAMP SUPPORT DESIGN. Referring to C1/C.14.1.27, in looking into this matter I find it was raised by you in your memos C10/C.17.11.26. and C10/C.5.12.26. It would appear that I had not put the whole facts of the case before you. I had overlooked the fact that the matter had been discussed previously with Sales, and that as a result of same we received a memo from Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}, reference Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}7/M.24.9.26, covering a copy of BJ3/E.7.9.26, written to R, in which Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} informs us that as a result of the letter to R.{Sir Henry Royce} in question, it had been definitely decided we should not go on with the standardization of the Rolls Royce design of combined wing and lamp carrier bracket. We would like to make quite sure that no other issue has made it possible, in the interim, that we shall produce the new design of wing carrier and lamp bracket. In the meantime, we are holding up our orders for parts affected in D.2. Series, until we get your reply. In writing you previously I had entirely overlooked the fact that this issue had been raised and settled. In looking the matter up Mr.Clough brought my attention to the fact that it had been raised before and that a settlement had been obtained. If you will refer to the memos quoted above you will see that so far as this particular design is concerned, it is supposed to have been entirely dropped, but before committing ourselves to the present design for D2, we would like this position confirmed.
