W/N - Mr. Hancock. x 1113 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KW.2.9.36. Many thanks for your various reports. The new ignition wires are now on production, and we have arranged to have supplies sent to Depots. The information re oil consumption was just what I required. It is quite easy for us to improve the Bentley oil consumption from 900 to 1500 M.P.G., as long as we know the oil is getting by the rings. Up to date of course these high oil consumptions on the Bentley have been shrouded in mystery. The rocker shaft being the wrong way round, for instance, made people start talking about 300 miles to the gallon, which is of course ridiculous. I shall be going over to Ireland to-day for the Tourist Trophy practice, and after that am having a ten days' holiday, so will you please address all your communications to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} in the interval. The Ph.III has been on the road and is going back into the shop again with a number of faults. I would recommend that you come to Derby on Monday of next week, with a view to getting the 15,000 miles test started. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
