The present standard petrol tank on the Phantom II car has a petrol capacity of 21 galls. representing a range of 252 miles (at 12 m.p.g.). The 20/25HP.car in comparison has a range of slightly over 300 miles without refuelling. We think that the Phantom II range is inadequate in view of the fact that it has a higher average speed and consequently on a long run requires filling up more frequently than the driver normally stops for meals. On a long continental run it is always nice to fill up the car when one stops for meals and know that it will not be necessary to stop again before the next meal time. There is in existence a 28 gall. petrol tank (L.T.F.31899) which increases the range of the car to 336 miles. This tank extends back to the rear cross member and eliminates the possibility of a rear spare wheel being carried forward of the rear crossmember. We put forward the suggestion that this tank should be standardised; if not on all types at any rate on the Continental type car. We think that the advantage to be gained is well worth the extra weight which will be carried. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} | ||
