-3- Fatigue. Our great trouble with pure aluminium is its poor fatigue life. The alloys are said to be very much superior. Unfortunately we have no suitable fatigue testing machine at the Works. The ideal machine for this purpose is that produced by the Deutsche Versuchanstalt fur Lufftfahart E.V. of Berlin Adlershof, and is a reversal bending machine for strip. These machines are used by Aluminium Industrie at Neuhausen and by High Duty Alloys at Slough. Such a mchine would appear to be a very useful testing apparatus to possess.
