S/W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} YC8250 CWB18/GM24.1.27. NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I RADIATOR. We are sending you today some dummy models of our 40/50 h.p. radiator. These are the result of certain ideas which were put forward in order to improve the side line of the car and we gradually worked down until we finally selected the one which is marked "Final". The only point regarding this, about which we could not come to a decision, was the filler cap. It was thought that the large diameter one was rather too large and squat, while the small diameter one (present standard) looked too small, possibly something intermediate would be exactly right. The particulars of this final model which was generally approved, are as follows:- 1. The flat top beneath the radiator cap is raised ¼" above present standard. 2. Rounded corner on the shoulder of the radiator is raised ¾" above the present standard. 3. The height of the radiator tank in the centre, i.e. from the matrix to the flat beneath the cap, is reduced by ¼" from standard. 4. The width of the flat beneath the radiator cap is increased by ⅜" above standard. It will be noted that these measurements necessitate one additional row of radiator tubes at the top. It is understood that Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} working entirely independently, has evolved a radiator which is practically identical with these measurements. The other two samples sent you are of the present standard radiator and of the original proposal for modification which are now both scrap, but the bodies of the radiators may be useful to you in making up other mock-ups for any purpose you may wish.
