CYLINDER MATERIALS.

SERIES A.{Mr Adams} (Sand Cast).

A.100 2½% Nickel.

Similar to A.101 (our standard cylinder iron) except for the nickel content which is raised to 2.5% and Silicon reduced slightly to maintain a balance of the elements.

A.101 Standard material.

TC. Si. Mn. S. P. Ni.
3.1-3.3% 1.8-2.0% .8-1.0% .10 (max) .25 .8-1.0%

A.102 Nickel Chrome Alloy.

This material is identical with "Chromidium" as produced by Midland Motor Cylinder Co. but with the addition of 1.0% Nickel and slightly less Silicon content, in order to maintain a hardness within the specified range of the standard material (202-241 Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager})

A.103 Nickel Chrome Molybdenum Alloy.

TC. Si. Mn. S. P. Ni. Cr.{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester} Mo.
3.1-3.3% 1.8-2.0% .8-1.0% .10(max) .25 .8-1.0% .35 .35

This is recommended by RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/Vs.{J. Vickers} to replace existing cylinder block material, consistent with his trip to Germany etc.
