X 7535 P. EFC2/AD. 6th September, 1929. Messrs. Peto & Radford, 50, Grosvenor Gardens, London, S.W.1. Dear Sirs, Regarding the dry sample three compartment one piece moulded container and cell which you sent to us at our suggestion for inspection. We have carefully inspected these and in general are very pleased with the various items of design. Two directions however, have occurred to us in which it appears possible that a slight further improvement might be made, though we are quite open to receive from you reasons that such would not be the case. (1) It appears to us that a slight improvement could be effected by increasing the thickness of the positive plates slightly at the expense of the negative. Perhaps you cannot give a very definite reason, but the suggestion is our impression from observation of the condition of batteries generally, at the end or nearly the end of their life. (2) We think that the ebonite separators might be thickened up a little, if only to .45 or .50 mm. Also it appears to us that they should be larger to the extent of being the same size as the wood separators, so as to project over the plates to the same extent. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
