Re R-R Car Instruction Book. The following is an item which we propose to insert in our next edition :- Ignition Plugs. These should be taken out occasionally and the electrodes, i.e. the point of the plug on which the spark takes place, should be actually scraped. After this has been done the gaps should again be reset and the plug refitted. This attention is necessary in order to obtain good flexible running, a special feature being the regularity of firing at slow speeds. After continuous running there is a tendency for these electrodes to become effected in such a way as to cause increased resistance to the spark, which the cleaning of same overcomes. This feature is also brought about by running the engine under full power conditions on a weak mixture and should the engine, under these conditions, show signs of intermittent firing, some attention should be given to the plugs, as above described.
