We are obtaining a smaller manifold for further tests with the Stromberg and propose to alter one of these to take a R.R. carburetter. Possibly we shall find that the smaller pipe either eliminates this fault or shifts it to another speed, but it is significant that 32-CL latest English Phantom with turbulent head and 1-3/4" intake, shows a similar drop in power at 1000 R.P.M. when the test card dynamometer loads are plotted on this same form of chart. See SK-247.

Test Cards.
The horsepower figures on the cards do not show up such defects and I therefore suggest that we keep a record either of actual dynamometer load or of engine torque and refer to attached charts when we want to transfer these into horsepower. (England do this)

Consumption.
In taking consumption figures on standard test engines, these should be taken with a stop watch and recorded as time to use a quart, rather than mileage, as the latter figure will be confused in the future by varying speedometer ratios. Also the time figure is more readily converted into standard results of lbs/hp. hour.
