We attach copy of a letter dated the 7th instant, which we have received from this customer's driver, and which you will find self-explanatory. We should mention that the driver is known to us and, as far as we can tell, we think that he is a very conscientious man. We are sending a 5 blade fan to our Cannes Depot, not to Nice as requested by the driver, the reason being that we have at present more competent mechanics at Cannes than at Nice, which we will explain in a letter to the driver. We are also arranging to send to our Cannes Depot a new high pressure petrol pump, on which the modification has been carried out as per Works memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}/II/JH.22.12.37. We think the trouble in connection with the petrol supply has been due to the abnormally hot weather which has lately been experienced in a general way on the Continent and which we think, in this case, has caused a vapour lock in the petrol feed pipe from the petrol tank to the high pressure pump which is fitted in the frame of this car. Will "C" kindly note that we think a letter of regret should be sent to Mrs. Bondy, especially in view of the fact of the recent trouble we had with her, owing to petrol fumes entering the car. We do not propose to write to Mrs. Bondy from this end. We attach to C.'s copy of this memo a letter (reference VAIO/ET.9.8.38), which we are to-day writing to this customer's driver. VA. Vd | ||
