X.3568. - RE BRAKE GEAR - GOSHAWK.

Referring to the brake gear of the goshawk, it will be found that there is very little choice as regards the position of the brake differential countershafts. I should like you to make a scheme for these shewing them arranged one in front and one behind of the cross member opposite to the front end of the rear springs and carried by comman brackets in a position just above the top of the frame, which will allow the necessary room for the torque tube when the axle is in the position of maximum bump.

These brake shafts need not be very wide, say, two-thirds the width of the frame. This length should enable them to carry the levers for the brake ropes out far enough to suit the brake gear on the axle.
