Mr Brock X8710 c. BY/RD. c. EFC. With reference to the special coil you have handed to us we are of course equally desirous with yourself to arrive at a primary winding wound on a spool of Bakelite, but before moving to this end it was necessary for us to have a number of coils tested where we have removed the oil silk insulation from the ends of the primaries. (orig. LSI on 14G4) A coil of this kind has been on test for some time. It has been agreed to be satisfactory so far as it goes, and we now propose to test four more. If these four stand up our next move would be to introduce the spool, this being the object of testing coils without the oil silk protection to the ends of the primary, but you will agree that it is very essential that we should make very certain that we can do without the oil silk protection to the ends of the primary.
