We thank you for the various reports and note your results.

Exhaust System.

We note that you did not find any alteration in the exhaust noise with the fitting of the thicker pipes in the expansion box. We presume that the tinniness is unaltered. We cannot quite understand this but suggest that you tell us if the tinniness disappears when you put the standard lagging on the pipes.

Maximum Speeds.

You will by now have received the figures we got on Brooklands for the maximum speeds of the expanding carburetter. You do not say if the results you give are taken with the cut out open or the cut out closed. We should like figures with the cut out open, also with the exhaust system removed up to the sliding joint if this is possible. It will also be interesting to know if the altered timing makes any difference.

Slipper Wheel rattles and Half Speed Period.

We are very concerned with the troubles that you are continually reporting. We have no alternative but to sell cars like 19-EX, what we want to know is what we have got to do to get the best compromise. We think that you should return to the standard cotton duck material and find out the best setting for these two troubles.

20-EX which we have running here is bad but not really impossible for rattles, with the high lift camshaft and high compression.
