| (sheet 2) to be very resonant, and may be contributing to the effect. It is agreed that this floor should be converted by Hoopers as soon as possible to a divided wooden floor, preferably of the 34-EX type. We have never directly asked for metal floors in the rear portion of the body, but coachbuilders may have been encouraged in this direction by our use of metal for the front floorboards. The Phantom III front floorboards are, however, extremely rigid compared with the metal floor in the rear of 36-EX. We cannot as the result of our test definitely ascribe booming to the Hooper floor until the body has been converted, as indicated, but the situation is such that we should definitely ask for divided wooden floors in all coachwork of the limousine type in the rear compartment.
