44651 Bf. from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ROY{Sir Henry Royce}1/MG2.5.24 re Brammer Belts made by Ramsdens BY4/P11.4.24 With reference to the Belting returned to Messrs. H.Brammer & Co.Ltd in accordance with the above Memo., we have received a reply from this firm as follows:- "It is our opinion that the belt has been "soaked or treated with some dressing, and which has had "a harmful effect. It appears that all the grease has "been absorbed by this dressing leaving the fibre of the "leather dry and brittle, hence the breakages. Petrol "would have this effect if applied to the belt, and it "appears to us that something of this nature has been in "contact with the leather. "The leather which is used is highly charged "with wax and requires no dressing of any sort. "We trust you have had satisfaction from the "belt beyond this, and that we shall receive your further "enquiries. and they have credited us with the value of same. Perhaps you would kindly look into the matter and advise if their surmise is correct. ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
