B.80 Silver Phantom Cresta Comet PL. 187 Fan Belt Clearances In accordance with memo; Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/JH. 8. 3. 40 We have made a diagramatic layout of the 8 cylinder engine in any of the above chassis and find reasonable clearance for belt removal. The fact that the front pan is probably built up by welding and consequently heated a number of times will tend to distort this piece out of shape, and I suggest the discrepancy is taking place in this cross member. The section of the pan could be possibly modified in the proximity of the damper without materially effecting its rigidity. The lubricator on the central steering pivot might also be modified in shape to provide a little more clearance. While the L.H.Silver Phantom is in the course of erection perhaps the Experimental Dept: will check up on the pan dimensions to prove this complaint. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. | ||
