C.I.A. D.A. let me have the views of yourself, with E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and E.V., also clear up any mistakes I have made by telephonic discussion with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

Would it be costly to test these suggested modifications? First find what would make the best looking and usefil shape of radiator and bonnet, and if it would meet Sales objection of appearance, and coachbuilders point of view, then find the percentage of loss of efficiency of radiator. This best shape would be -

(1) Slightly lower centre of radiator.
(2) Slightly less thickness of radiator.
(3) Integral shutters exactly the same as those objected to (not thinner tank.)
(4) Perhaps slightly narrower at rear end.
(5) Greatest allowable height and depth of radiator.

Less
Lower relatively

Approximately 45"

[Diagram 2 annotations]
Slightly narrower here.

[Diagram 3 annotations]
Slightly less.
Increased slightly.

All these small percentages will add together and make an improved appearance at the expense of slight all-round efficiency - i.e. for the coachwork, and possibly for cooling, unless matrix can be increased in height or depth (5) - which would quickly make up for (2).
