Dear Mr. Hives:

Re Body Subframe - Section 7000

We notice that at "SS{S. Smith}" you are definitely proceeding with the "body subframe".

I think I have written you about this some time ago, but would like some notes from you in the light of your latest experience.

(1) How much does it weigh as a unit? 107¼ LBS
(2) How much do you estimate that it adds to the weight of the complete car when advantage has been taken of possible saving in Coachwork construction? 50 Lbs
(3) What are its (advantages) (disadvantages) as regards distortion effects on coachwork? We think that it prolongs body life
(4) What are its advantages as regard noise? Reduces engine roughness
(5) What are its effects on shimmy? Varys with type of body
(6) What is the resultant increase in floor height? That is the minimum height of floor above ground with subframe as against the minimum height without subframe. None
(7) From the point of view of the coachbuilder how is the sub-frame being received? Bodies do not fit chassis very well. Jig is necessary at Coach-builders
(8) Are the seats mounted on the chassis direct or on the sub-frame through the coachwork construction?
