SECRET. H2/17.1.25. TO - DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to - EH. EF. TG. WH. HB.{C. E. Harcombe} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. STEPPED OR RECESSED DASH. J8500 Mr. Elliott has suggested this because there are certain difficulties with accessories on the bonnet side of the dash. I understand it would mean:- (1) Present length of bonnet retained, or longer. (2) Engine pushed as far forward as possible. (3) Pedals also passing into a pocket, or equiv-alent, thus:- [Drawing of a recessed area] (4) Scuttle would be relatively shorter. Kindly discuss this with E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}, and find the advantages and disadvantages, and let me know. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
