re Instrument Boards.

As requested in Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}18/ML.28.8.40. we are issuing a partly finished project of instrument boards for the Senior Range of cars (original to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. and print to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG).

On PL.337 we shew several proposals of which we prefer figs. 4 and 6. A different design will be required for the Bentley and the R.R. models and further work has yet to be done.

A print of PL.337 is being sent to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG. as requested to assist in the design of instrument board for Myth. In our scheme we have used standard instruments with interior illumination as provided by Mr. Nicholls of Messrs. Smith & Sons.

A sample instrument board complete with instruments and illumination was left with Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} after the last conference at W. with Mr. Nicholls and we suggest that Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG. should borrow this.

The following design features have been laid down as a basis for the design of the Myth instrument board.

1. A veneered board on plywood base.

2. Standard Smiths instruments with interior illumination.

3. Cubby holes without doors.

4. Standard light switches etc. with starter operated by clutch pedal.

5. Provision to be made for a wireless control.

6. The standard instruments will be -
a.{Mr Adams} Electric clock.
b. Speedometer A.T..
c. Petrol gauge.
d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Ammeter.
e.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Lighting & master switch.
f.{Mr Friese} Ignition warning lamp.
g.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Electric petrol reserve switch.
