1381 Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}3/KW15.6.38. Notes of Meeting held at Derby on 14th June,1938. Present: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} BY Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Gry{Shadwell Grylls} Ll.Smith H.R.Smith LA{L. A. Archer} Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} PHANTOM III 1. Battery Charging It was reported that 48-watt bulbs are now available and supplies have been sent to N. and Sr for changing where necessary. All new lamps are being supplied with 48-watt bulbs. The point was raised as to whether Bentley headlamps should be similarly treated, and it was agreed that they should be but not retrospectively and provided no scrap was entailed. This means that future headlamps on Bentleys, when present stocks are used up, will be equipped with 48-watt bulbs. 2. Cost Reductions As further information is necessary before recommendations can be submitted this matter is carried forward to the next meeting. 3. Future Policy A memo BY19/GIO.6.38 was gone through and RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} had some figures available concerning the recommendations in that memorandum which are in respect of "E" series. It was shown that to carry out these proposals certain tool costs would be involved which would be absorbed by the first 80 chassis and which would provide an additional reduction of costs on the remaining 120 chassis of "E" series to the extent of approximately £5000. It was agreed that a further discussion should take place between BY and RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} because it is felt that even further action could be taken in this direction. It was also felt that if Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} could have a programme of the proposed output | ||
