Assembly instructions for a B.60 No.1 cast iron unit following an endurance inspection.

B.60 No.1 UNIT (CAST IRON).

Following the inspection of this unit after endurance will you please assemble to this specification,

(1) New set of main bearings, similar to existing.

(2) Regarding the cylinder bores, several are worn to the extent of .006 at the top and short inserts should be fitted as follows:-

Nos. 1, 2 and 3 bores machine and fit Phosphor Chrome short inserts. The bores to be finally machined .005 oversize.

Nos. 4, 5 and 6. Existing bores to be machined .005 oversize.

Measurement of bores to be taken and recorded.

(3) Pistons. .005 oversize pistons should be obtained from the repair, and fitted as follows:-

Nos. 1 and 4 Wraith pistons.
Nos. 2 and 5 EB.2844 pistons (Aerolite).
Nos. 3 and 6 EB.3916 pistons (Aerolite).

All above pistons to be fitted with

E.60820 compression rings.
EB.3122 scraper rings.

(4) Fit new distributor gear S/ZN and check up end play in view of pin failure during endurance.

(5) Fit a set of Vandervell little end bushes which Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} will supply.

(6) Fit R.R. distributor to DCD.838 with governor characteristic as per our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}13/MH.{M. Huckerby}22.2.39.
