Autopulse Sediment Trap This very accessible and compact little device has three important features, when installed between the AUTOPULSE and the carburetor: First. It filters the fuel through a large area of 70 mesh brass screen, thus affording clean fuel for the engine. Second. Segregates water from the fuel. Third. Affords and makes possible a steady and non-pulsating flow of fuel to the carburetor by reason of its properties as an expansion chamber. The drawing shows a diametrical view, partly in section. The upper section of the full trap functions as a trapped air chamber or expansion chamber and the lower half forms a water, dirt and sediment trap. The casing, comprising two circular cups, is assembled on a threaded stud with gaskets and brass screen in place (as shown). This stud clamps the two cups together, between the shoulder of the hexagon nut and the "C" boss of the AUTOPULSE. Installation 1. As the trap has sufficient strength to support the AUTOPULSE, it may be installed direct to the carburetor or any of the mounting brackets as shown on page 7. The stud is threaded with a 1/8" male pipe thread, but this may be changed to a female opening by using the coupling as shown on page 7 and a standard tube connector. 2. When installing fuel trap on the AUTOPULSE the drain plug should be held in position at the lowest point (as shown in diagram) while screwing stud in place. Caution When using a wrench on the hexagon portion of the stud, for screwing on to mounting, be sure to allow the AUTOPULSE to turn with the stud until tight and in an upright position. If the AUTOPULSE is held stationary and the stud turned the pressure applied to gaskets will be reduced and leakage may result. Transfer of gasoline from the cars supply tank to the carburetor in just the quantity, and exactly as required by that particular motor's operation, is automatic upon turning the switch which operates the Autopulse. Car owners appreciate the advantages of the Autopulse better method of fuel delivery, which is so independent of weather, altitude, and other variable conditions, that it argues and wins its own case thru perfected performance. Don't let tradition limit you in your opportunity to adopt obvious improvements that will positively make yours a better car to own and drive. IRELAND & MATTHEWS MFG. CO.
