The Hoffmann Manufacturing Co.Ltd.,
CHELMSFORD.

For the attention of C.H.Smith, Esq.

Dear Sirs,

We wish to thank you for your hospitality to our Mr.Goodall and the writer on the occasion of our visit to your Works on the 9th inst., and to confirm the arrangements made at that time.

We left with you 15 steering rollers to our F.61471 which you are to examine for cause of irregular friction torque and binding where this exists. It was also arranged that you should measure the end load necessary to produce our figures for friction torque on two satisfactory rollers, with a view to establishing standard conditions for measuring preload.

We confirm that we desire the friction torque to be from 6 ozs. to 12 ozs. at 3" radius with as far as practical no binding effect.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
