Sudl EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}9/JH. 24th August, 1938. Messrs. Richard Klinger Ltd., Klingerit Works, Sidcup, Kent. For the attention of Mr. Horton. Dear Sirs, There are a number of holes shown in our cylinder head gasket drawing Ew.1014, which other than for localisation of pressure do not serve any specific sealing purposes. In your 1/32" Klingerit material gaskets these holes cause weakness of the gasket in general and when handled after running crack across to the bores in the position we have marked up on the attached drawing. Ringed with red on the same drawing are the holes in question and we should like you to supply us with a dozen gaskets with the holes deleted, otherwise to be as your previous samples to E.1014 in Klingerit 1000 treat C, 1/32 thickness. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
