x717 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Tana/AD. 1st November, 1929. Messrs. Ferodo Ltd. Sovereign Mills, Chapel-en-le-Frith. For the attention of Mr. Field. Dear Sirs, With regard to clutches with the fabric on the driven plate, we have a suggestion to make for the purpose of reducing juddering, on which we should like your opinion. It is that a layer of some resilient substance, such as cork or felt, be sandwiched between the fabric and the steel plates. We should like to know whether you consider sufficient resilience could be obtained this way, and whether you have even tried it. Also, whether the arrangement would require rivetting, or could be cemented as at present. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
