Dear Sirs,

With reference to Mr. F.J. Hardy's conversation with our Technical Manager Mr. C.H. Smith, on the 26th January, we have now prepared the enclosed Drawing No. 27-3273, showing the needle roller bearing for the swivel pins, which whilst keeping the flanged outer race, we have lengthened the rollers and race by 2 m {Mr Moon / Mr Moore} /m, giving a greater capacity.

We have also indicated a lip in the bore of the swivel, which would give increased protection, an annular grease groove being turned in the bore of this lip.

A separate Drawing of this bearing is shown on the enclosed Drawing No. 43-579 F, Sec. 56, and from this it will be seen that we have increased the diameter of the flange to 1.537"x with that shown on your Drawing No. GW.1961, to agree, and also increased its thickness.
[Handwritten Annotation]: X TO AGREE

If the form of mounting shown on our Drawing No. 27-3273 could be ultimately adopted, the internal lip in the swivel could form the abutment for the outer race, and the flange be omitted.

Mr. Hardy will recollect that when speaking to Mr. Smith the line was very indistinct, and we were unable to make contact with him yesterday, so that we are not quite sure that we have correctly interpreted your wishes, but if this is not the case, we shall of course be very pleased to make any alteration you desire.

Assuring you of our best services at all times, we remain,

Yours faithfully,

THE HOFFMANN MANUFACTURING CO.LTD.

P.S. We confirm having posted four J. {Mr Johnson W.M.} 385 last night.

ENCLOSE. Drwg. 43-579 F, Sec.56. 27-3273
