Minute No.6. Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} -3- Hys/R4.6.33. It was agreed that the R.R. Scheme is to be preferred and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} sanctioned the putting in hand of 25 sets of parts at once so that we will be ready to fit them as soon as the arrangement has been passed after further running. 7. Item 3 on General Chassis Agenda. Clutches - 20/25. C. referred to the very large number of 20/25 Clutches which have to receive attention at service depots and said that the complaint regarding clutches was becoming of such a magnitude that it is being talked about in the trade. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that the question was being taken up vigorously by the Experimental Dept. and they had visited Cricklewood yesterday. He said that there appeared to be some mystery about the failures which they cannot as yet explain. Investigations are still being carried on. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} thought that the cause of the trouble may be due to the form of splines used. The matter is still being gone into. 8. Item 4 on General Chassis Agenda. General position of 8-litre engine in V.III. type of chassis. Enquiries into the progress of this work were made. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} said he would issue the axle drawings sometime next week. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that he still had quite a lot of work to do on the job. After consideration Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} estimated that he would be able to complete a chassis suitable for test by about the end of October. It was decided that the chassis shall be referred to as the 'Vulture'. 9. Item 13 on General Chassis Agenda. Gear Boxes. The supply of an E.N.V. Gear Box for trial is still held up for designs of certain shaft parts by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Discussion here took place regarding the speeding up of certain design work and it was arranged that E & Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} should talk the matter over with a view to Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} giving E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} assistance. | ||
