X328 GRH DY.{F R Danby} c. E.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} De. RHG. He/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} E/HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.24.3.36. Increased Area of Thrust Washers for Differential Gear - Phantom III. N.Sch.4785 herewith is provided at the request of the Experimental Department, in order to diminish the rate of wear of these washers and reduce the chance of chunking due to backlash. The Buick type oil grooves are provided, but they are in the washers, as to place them in the faces in the casing is not so convenient in our case. It is important that the cutter for the faces for the bevel wheels should produce a radius as shewn. These modifications must run the usual endurance test before standardisation. E/HDY.{William Hardy} N.Sch 4785 herewith. | ||
