-2- Ha/Wat./VNA.17.6.36. Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} During the test there was no leakage from the 'vellumoid' packed joints; these appearing to serve their purpose well. At the end of the test, the commutator was found to be dry, as also were the brushes, with the exception of one or two small patches. Apart from a slight tendency of one brush to "stick", all brushes were free in their holders. There was, however, the usual film of oil covering the holders and end-bracket. Summing up then, we can say :- (1) There was no leakage of oil through the paper washers. (2) There appeared to be no leakage through the felt washer. Also the fact that oil was forced out of the lubricator, which was not observed to happen on previous tests, suggests that the felt washer was effective as a seal. (3) In spite of these seals, oil was still deposited on the brush gear and bracket. Oil, to this extent, getting on to the brush gear appears to be inevitable. Ha/Wat. | ||
