-7- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}2/WH.27.4.39. INSPECTION - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (2) Big end AC.9 bearings generally on tight side, production recently increased this clearance for the same reason. In future we should work to the new larger clearance. One big end was badly scored in line with the crank pin oil hole. This is not infrequent and appears to have developed since coming on to I/C crankcases and .4 carbon crankshafts. (3) Main bearings in Vandervell's latest three-layer material in good condition, but show local tight places. Marking on the lead bronze thrust washers heavy and appears insufficient crank end float. (4) Tappets show signs of having been stationary and as previously reported, consider the amount of rotation should be increased. (5) Some wear has taken place on the distributor drive gear which is of the latest tooth form. Whether this is initial wear and will not develop cannot be determined until further running has been carried out. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} | ||
