Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, for the attention of Mr.Steadman. With reference to the three calorstats E.80893 returned under your advice Note W. G/F 53905 and replacement Order No.R.18135, we have tested these and find the following. No.1. 7 1/2 lbs. weak at 90 degrees ... date March '37. No.2. 10 " strong " " not fully exhausted " October '36. No.3. Bellows fractured ... " January '37. It seems evident that the discrepancy in the first two is caused by differences in filling or degree of exhaustion, and for your information we are checking the degree of exhaustion of new products by vacuoscope and will shortly be introducing a filling which is not a compound and which will give much more equable results. With regard to No.3 it is possible that there was a weak place in the bellows which at last fractured as a result of vibration. Yours faithfully, for S. SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LTD. F.{Mr Friese} S. Safford ENGINEER. To avoid delay all envelopes should be addressed to the firm. | ||
