COVENTRY.

Dear Sirs,

We are interested in making a special spring plate from phosphor bronze, the plate being round and having a number of concentric corrugations, one of these to be deeper than the rest, as shown below.

The plate is made from 30 SWG. (.012) material, the outside diameter is 6.880, the free axial length is .800 and the rate 288 lbs/inch.

This part has been spun, but the process is expensive, even on a small scale, due to the fact that the plate must be turned round in order to put in the deep groove. An alternative is to make the plate in two parts and dip solder at the joint.

However, we should prefer to make the part by pressing, if this is possible. Presumably the spring of the plate could be allowed for by means of an exaggerated die.

We should like to know if you could do this for us.

Yours faithfully,
